Thai Sweet Chili Sauce

Imagine a steaming hot spring roll, a crispy cottage cheese puff, an egg roll, fried chicken, grilled chicken, chicken wings, chicken nuggets, dumplings, fried calamari, cheesy toast etc. etc. Now imagine the same without that faithful sidekick – the dipping sauce? Not quite the same, is it?


This dipping sauce is the definition of yum.  It’s sweet and tart with bright flacks of chillies and garlic. 


If you don’t love spice, this totally authentic Thai sauce is your new best friend. Sweet, sticky, totally addictive Thai Sweet Chili Sauce.



6-7 dry red chillies, deseeded and grinded
½ cup water
½ cup vinegar
5-6 garlic cloves, crushed
½ inch ginger, crushed 
¼ cup sugar
1 tsp ketchup
1 tsp cornflour


1. In a saucepan, bring water & vinegar to one boil.


2. Add the crushed ginger & garlic.


3. Add sugar & grinded dry red chillies.


4. Add tomato ketchup & give it a mix.


5. After one boil, add cornflour and cook for 2-3 minutes.


Serve with your favourite appetizer.
